Day Eight Estella to Sansol
28.5km, 7.5 hours
Apologies to all for the delays in posting, I'm not having a lot of fun with the Wix app.
We set off just before 7 because we knew we had our biggest day yet ahead.
First on the agenda was the Forge of Ayegui, a blacksmith we had heard a lot about.
Next up was the famed Fuente Irache, the fountain that pours red wine.
Unfortunately it doesn't start running until 8am! We didn't have time to wait around. We continued on the road to Los Arcos, along the way amongst other things Snow White Toni found some more animals.
We arrived at Los Arcos which is the next on stage point around 1.40pm and ran into Marjorie, who is from our original Beilari Camino family! Was lovely to see her, and we grabbed an icypole while we were there. We had chosen to continue on the next town, which was supposed to be 7km further, but it felt like a lot longer!
The last hour we were basically delirious, but we did plan our 5 top items to survive the apocalypse, and whether we would rather have a dog head on human body, or a human head on a dog body.
We finally arrived at Palacia Sansol at 4.20pm. Price was $19 euro per person for a whole 6 bed room (that was the last thing available to book). It ended up when we checked in that we have been allocated a whole 10 bed bunk room to ourselves with private bathroom.
We had the pilgrims dinner which was homely and filling, although fairly funny with the Spanish speaking host insisting on feeding the boys up! Spoke with Dane from Dunedin (now in AU) and Megumi from Japan. I was shattered from the big day and went to bed early before dessert was even served!

Always good to talk about survival of the apocalypse 👌
Loving seeing your journey.
Sarah 😊
