Day 13 Belorado to Santovenia

26.5km, 6.5 hours

We had a quick machine coffee from our Albergue this morning and then headed off.

Foggy start to the walk, a few short periods of light rain, nothing to cause much mud underfoot.

We left the sunflower fields and went up a few hills into more forested country. Nice colourful scrubby bushes amongst the pines.

At the top of 1 hill we found another donativo van, the van owner told Toni and I he was a ‘Dr of coffee’ so of course we ended up buying one.

We chatted at a few spots to the ladies from Perth (didn’t catch their names) they seem to be having a good time!

Graham made a new friend from Melbourne, Dean who barracks for Carlton and was listening to the game, I’m sure he would have been happy with the final result! We also made peace with the terminator.

In San Juan de Ortega, we finally found the elusive lemon cornetto, and it was all it was hyped to be!

We had cloud cover for most of the walk which was great, in fact we were all feeling a bit cold at times today.

We arrived at our Albergue just after 3pm. We have had to walk off stage for accommodation this evening, as there is as nothing decent available in San Juan, Ages or Atapuerca. This is our first municipal Albergue and there are 6 sets of bunks in our room so that will be interesting. There are 4 showers and 4 toilets for 24 people. $16 euro per person for bed and $12 for pilgrims menu dinner.
