Day 24 - Ponferrada

Rest day

Started with Churros and coffee for breakfast, then visited the Templar castle.

Lovely big menú del día lunch across the road, then home for a siesta.

We walked to shopping centre, had fun looking at all the different shops and pet store. Then had dinner at home, pizzas and lasagne.

Day 25- Ponferrada to Villafranca del Bierzo

Nice walk out of town, sunrise was very pretty over castle. Suburbia lots of nice houses and gardens with flowers.

It’s getting close to Harvest time and in the rural areas with houses the vege gardens look amazing.

Then it was a long time on pavement, and I was getting cranky and over it.

Our Albergue is lovely although the shower situation is not much on the private side. $13 euro per person for quad room.

Day 26 - Villafranca del Bierzo to Las Herrerias

19.5km, 4.5 hours

While walking met Julie, nurse from UK. Travelling with her husband Tony, and their friend Mick. They all live in WA.

Stayed at Miriam’s in Las Herrarias.

Met Matt and his partner from UK, they are doing Camino in fold up bikes!

We had a pilgrims dinner at Miriam's which was great getting to know a few more people as we are still out of sync with our originals.

Las Herrerias is a lovely peaceful country town and we all really enjoyed relaxing there.
